Elon Musk's net worth
One dated figure, its source, and the companies it is made of.
US dollars, the currency Forbes reports in.
Forbes put Elon Musk's net worth at $1.051 trillion on , rounded to the nearest $1 billion.
Forbes shows this to the nearest $1 billion.
About this figure
This is Forbes' published estimate, shown with its date. It is not a bank balance. Calculate now replaces it with our estimate: this reading, moved by what his Tesla and SpaceX shares have done since. How that works.
What the number is made of
Six companies, drawn as they are owned. Pick one to see what is on the record.
Listed, Nasdaq: TSLATesla
A Form 4 filed in June 2026 reports 413,152,109 common shares held through his trust and 710,172,677 restricted shares held directly.
On the companies boardRead the Tesla stake noteInvestor site
Listed, Nasdaq: SPCXSpaceX
Public since 12 June 2026. Forbes puts his stake at 38%, options included.
Owned by SpaceXxAI
SpaceX acquired xAI in February 2026, as Forbes reports, so its value sits inside the SpaceX line and is never added a second time.
Held through xAIX
X merged into xAI before that deal. It reaches the figure through two parents and is counted once.
PrivateNeuralink
A brain-implant company with no share price to multiply. Publishers value his stake from funding rounds.
PrivateThe Boring Company
A tunnelling company. Forbes counts a stake here while placing the bulk of the fortune in SpaceX and Tesla.
Sizes are not to scale. No split of the figure by company is shown, because none has been verified.
How rich is Elon Musk?
The answers below explain what a number like that does and does not mean.
How much is Elon Musk worth today?
The figure at the top of this page is the most recent Forbes estimate we have checked, shown with the date Forbes gave it and the date we read it. Calculate now swaps it for our estimate, the same reading moved by Tesla and SpaceX share prices since, and labels it as ours.
Is net worth the same as money in the bank?
No. Net worth is the estimated value of what someone owns, less what they owe. Most of this figure is company shares. Selling on that scale would move the price and trigger tax, and part of his Tesla holding is restricted until January 2028.
Paper wealth is a price multiplied by a share count. Neither number is cash.
How do Tesla and SpaceX affect his wealth?
Both are listed, so the value of his shares moves with each share price during market hours. A company's market value is the worth of the whole company, not of his part of it.
Why do net worth estimates disagree?
Publishers use different share counts, different dates, different treatment of options and debt, and different valuations for private companies. Printing a figure to the last dollar removes none of that.

The banner at the top of the page uses the same prices as Calculate now. This panel is from TradingView, may be delayed, and does not feed any figure on this page.
How Calculate now works
It starts from the Forbes reading and adds what his Tesla and SpaceX holdings have gained or lost since the close on 6 October 2026. Nothing else moves, so the figure changes only when a price does.

Where the prices come from
Your browser asks Robinhood for Tesla and SpaceX prices, which it quotes through the night on weekdays. If that fails it asks CoinGecko for tokens that track the two shares and trade at any hour, and labels them as token prices. If neither answers, it uses the latest close on our record. Every figure says which one it used and when.
Which shares are counted
Tesla: the 413,152,109 shares in his trust. The 286,428,773 restricted shares from his 2018 options are left out, as Forbes leaves them out, and so is the 2025 award, which has not vested.
SpaceX: the 4,766,475,230 shares his trusts hold and his 350,000,000 options, which gain or lose a dollar for every dollar the share moves. The 1,302,072,285 restricted shares that have not vested are left out. Both counts come from his SEC filings.
Land a booster
Fly a falling booster onto a drone ship at dusk: steer it over the deck, light the engine late and land it upright. For when the numbers get heavy.

Every number should have a source
The rules this site holds itself to.
Evidence before estimates
A holding enters our count only with a dated filing behind it. Where evidence is missing, the line stays empty and says so.
Uncertainty stays visible
Private stakes and debts cannot be observed day to day. Dates, ranges and stale prices are shown beside the figure, never hidden under it.
Independent by design
This site is unofficial and has no connection to Elon Musk or his companies. Sponsors, the game and the print never touch the figures.
